Jack McKay Memorial Handicap celebrates the life of one of the biggest supporters of Bathurst Cycling. The event is one of the major trophy events on the Bathurst Cycling Club Calender originally part of a the Western Region Interclub Premiership and a City vs Country Challenge event; and a fitting memorial of one of Bathurst’s most popular cycling identities, Jack McKay(1919-1997).
2018 Jack McKay Memorial Handicap
Isaiah Bennett has defeated Andrew McGrath and David Reece in the Annual Jack McKay Handicap, fourth was Tim Scott with Jille Harris riding an excellent race to finish 5th overall and the First Female in the Annual Memoraial Event. Rounding out the top 10 was John Anderson Michael Robinson Julian Wood Luke Tuckwell and Kalinda Robinson.
The Backmarkers tried hard to catch the front markers for handicap honors but didn’t really threaten the winners. However the race for fastest time became a great battle when blockmarkers Jermey Ryan (Cowra) Harry Bryant (Orange) and Mark Windsor started fast and put the pressure on scratch markers Josh Corcoran, Will Hodges and Brad Rayner. But in the end Josh Corcoran continued his excellent recent form to claim fastest time (1:04:37) infront of GMP Stulz teammate Will Hodges.
The other interest in the event was for the First Female Trophy with former NSW Masters Champ Jille Harris riding a very smart race to defeating top class Junior Kalinda Robinson.
