BCC – Tuesday Night Criterium Series Results – 13 February 2018 Sulman Park, Mt Panorama

There were 25 starters for the first Tuesday night series, the biggest turnout so far this summer.

C & D grades started first in a combined graded scratch race. There were 6 riders in C grade and 4 riders in D grade. New riders to the Tuesday night series were Morgan Watts (sister of Emily Watts) and Gemma Carter (wife of Drew Carter) in D grade.

In C grade Wayne Powell had his first ever run in a criterium race along with young track rider Daniel Googe. C grade was won by Bruce Hutton 5 sec ahead of Isaiah Bennett and Peter Wilson in 3rd a further 3 secs behind him. Wayne Powell did well for his first crit finishing 4th.

In D grade Morgan Watts was too strong for Gemma Carter and took the win by 13 sec. John Kitchen was 3rd and Rosemary Hastings was 4th.

In race 2, A & B grades combined in a graded scratch race. There were 5 riders in A grade and a big field of 10 riders in B grade. New riders to the Tuesday night series were Tom Bolton in A grade and Luke Gillmer in B grade who has returned to racing after nearly 12 months away. Jono Cutler also dusted off his bike to have a ride.

A grade was won by Will Hodges just 2 secs in front of Craig Hutton. Brad Rayner was 3rd.

B grade was won by Stuart Renshaw by 1 sec from Julian Woods. Nathan Maher was 3rd a further 1 sec behind him. Emily Watts was only 2 secs behind Nathan in 4th place. It was a close finish with only 7 secs separating 1st and 7th places.

Next week’s round on Tuesday 20 February 2018 will be a graded handicap with C & D grades combined in race 1 and then A & B grades combined in race 2. Sign on by 5:45pm. C/D race starts 6:00pm and A/B race starts 6:30pm.
