BCC – Christmas Hamper 2 Roads Quarry Race - 17 December 2017

There was a big field of 38 starters for the Christmas Hamper graded scratch race over the 2 Roads Quarry course.

A grade started first with 6 riders including a visitor Tom Bolton from Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club. Brad Rayner won just over Harry Carter and Craig Hutton. Our visitor Tom eased out Josh to take 4th place. Harry Bryant was 5th. Brad’s win on Sunday backed up from his win on Saturday in the inaugural BCC Cyclo Cross race.

B grade started with 9 riders. Tony Barlow was a starter having had an extended layoff over recent months. Andrew Carter took 1st place, backing up from his win last Tuesday afternoon in the BCC criterium race. Tony took 2nd place and has obviously kept up his pace during his layoff. Steve Scott was 3rd only just behind Tony. Jim Lavis was 4th just behind Steve and 5th was Tim Roebuck.

C grade was the biggest bunch with 17 riders including visitor Nicholas Barrett. Also starting was Andrew McGrath who hasn’t raced for some time. The day was one for the young riders with Kalinda Robinson taking out 1st place and Isaiah Bennett 3rd. They were split by the ever improving Mick Foran. Consistent Neville Krahe was 4th and Glen Partridge was 5th.

D grade started with 6 riders. Glen Carter was a last minute starter and bought a day licence to compete (his wife thought he was just going for a bunch ride). Glen’s investment paid off and he won taking home the hamper. John Kitchen was 2nd and Norman Wise was 3rd. Rosemary Hastings was 4th and David Hyland was 5th.

The handicap results of Sunday’s race are attached (GrdScr_Results.pdf). Also attached are the ranked race times (Ranked_Time_Results.pdf).
