BCC – 3 Roads Scratch Race – 18 Feb 2018
There was a good field of 27 starters to mark the return of road racing in 2018 on the 3 Roads course.
A grade started with 5 riders including the return of Richard Hobson to racing. Also starting was a visitor Tom Bolton from Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club who has now moved to Bathurst to study at CSU. Josh Corcoran just pipped Will Hodges at the line to take out the sprint win. Richard Hobson took 3rd place showing good form after his return to racing. Unfortunately Brad Rayner and Tom Bolton were DNFs.
B grade was the biggest bunch with 11 riders. Daniel Went took a strong win in the sprint over Stuart Renshaw. Nathan Maher was 3rd a further 2 sec behind and Steve Scott 4th a further 1 sec behind. Only 1 min separated 1st and 8th placed Hayden Booth. Dave Reece suffered a flat and Tim Scott stopped to help. Both finished very much last and well done to Tim for helping a fellow rider get home.
C grade started with 8 riders including new member Nicholas Barrett. Peter Wilson took a good win showing that he has kept up the training over the New Year layoff. Jill Harris was 2nd followed closely by Rob Stephen in 3rd and Neville Krahe was 4th. Mick Foran was a DNF due to a puncture.
D grade started with 3 riders. Gemma Carter took the solo win ahead of Cathy Adams. John Kitchen was a DNF due to a broken spoke on his beloved retro 1960’s Lejeune French bike.
